Blog Socrates

Today in class we learned about the Greek philosopher named Socrates. He lived in Athens and was a very famous and well respected philosopher. He taught people to think for himself, which by teaching people this lead to his death. I learned about this Socratic Method which is a form of inquiry and discussion between individuals, based on asking and answering questions. This would make critical thinking happen. After Socrates taught for a while, he started teaching the youth about thinking for themselves in categories like religion. After teaching, Socrates was accused of 'corrupting the youth'. He was then put on trial and was sentenced to death by being voted too death by 500 people. They made Socrates kill himself by making him drink hemlock, a deadly poison. Socrates died, and his famous student, Plato, also made a name for himself. Plato became, like Socrates, a very famous philosopher. Plato learned everything from Socrates.
